The Polar Bear is the largest of all bear species, growing up to 3 metres long. They are strong and really fast, running up to speeds of 25mph. Their fur is made up of a layer of dense underfur and an outer layer of ‘guard fur’. This guard fur appears white, but is actually translucent and camouflages well in the Arctic environment. Sometimes they can even be mistaken for snow. They’re well adapted to their environment and have large, webbed paws that they use for swimming.
